The A727′s dual-band 3G connectivity (850 MHz, 1900 MHz) provides average download data speeds between 400 and 700 kilobits per second with bursts of more than 1 megabit through AT&T’s HSDPA (High Speed Download Packet Access) network. With AT&T’s MobiTV service, you can watch live television right on your cell phone, with content from such channels as MSNBC, CNBC, ABC News, FOX Sports, The Discovery Channel, and The Learning Channel.
And with the forthcoming Video Share service (to be fully available in the summer of 2007), you can send a live, one-way video stream to another compatible phone during a standard voice call. The service also allows you to switch the direction of the video stream during the same phone call. I had this fone for over 2 weeks now. I gota say this fone is nothing but a piece of useless device. I had so many drop-call (very frustrating), signal strength is always 2 bars top. It is hard to travel with this fone, because signal is very weak when you are out of town. One more thing I hate about this fone is the keyboard, you have to use your nails and push real hard to get to where you want to. Enough said, I guess I do not have anything nice to tell you about this fone. Bottom line is “do not get it”

I was a ATT subscriber for years and the quality was great. However, in a belt tightening move I opted for Skype for a landline at $60/year UNLIMITED (I pay $50/month for broadband anyway) then I noticed that our two cell phones cost $81/month regardless of usage so I looked around and found TMobile prepaid and got cell phones with 2200 minutes for one year at $230. Since CA is now going to ticket drivers using phones it is a good excuse to just call when I get HOME!

My husband and I have had these phones for 5 months now. We have never had more dropped calls than we have in the past five months with these phones. We did purchase these phones when we switched carriers, so perhaps that is the problem. Though I doubt it. Even with full bars of service, the calls drop randomly and often. And then the phone goes into “emergency mode” and we’re unable to make any calls at all. At first we thought that something was wrong with the particular phones we had, like a bad batch, because we know several people in this area with AT&T service who never have dropped call problems. So I called in and exchanged the phones under the warranty, yet we still have the same problems.
Quite honestly, the phone itself isn’t that bad. I prefer the Motorola, or even better the LG operating system to Samsung, but it’s a decent phone with enough features for the standard cell phone user. If it weren’t for the constant dropped calls, I wouldn’t mind keeping the phone until I was able to upgrade.
My only regret is not returning these phones within the 30 day trial period. If I had I wouldn’t be stuck with all of this call frustration. I would recommend buying a different manufacturer’s phone, but if you’re stuck on buying a Samsung, go with one of the Blackjack’s.

I’m on my second a727 because I thought the first one was faulty. Now, having the second one for 3 months, I’ve come to realize, this model is faulty. I constantly have dropped calls. And the phone gets really hot after just 10 minutes of talking. If you want a reliable phone– which everyone does, do not get this phone.

I bought this phone 2.5 years ago because I loved the sturdiness of my freebie nokia(s) but wanted something that was more updated and sleeker. I’m a 21 year old college student, and I’m known for my ability to break everything I touch. This phone has been with me everywhere and is still kicking. I dropped it numerous times (not recommended), and I’m pretty sure it’s had its fair share of contact with liquids (also not recommended) due to rain or condensation from drinks on a table. Here is a list of my likes and dislikes:
PROS
-Super sturdy
-Lightweight and one of the thinnest phones out there
-Simple applications like Bluetooth, Music ID, camera, video, voice recorder, calculator, calendar, etc
-Not so simple like my sturdy old nokia that everyone laughed at
-I still get compliments on it after 2 years.
-Easy keypad for texting.
-I love to bluetooth my music and photos back and forth to my computer.
CONS
-The screen is flat against your face, so you have to clean it off a lot.
-The screen is easily scratched
-The battery life isn’t really a life because I have to charge it 1 or 2 times a day depending on how much I talk or text.
-Sometimes the battery cover comes loose (but that battery is jampacked in there so it doesn’t actually fall out)
-the internet is hard to navigate
Another thing is I can’t tell if it’s my phone, service or the other person when I have bad reception or it randomly hangs up.
Overall, it’s awesome for people who are NOT interested in big fancy phones like the blackjack or iphone but still want something with cool features that are easy to use that isn’t TOO simple. It’s also very sturdy, so accident-prone people should consider it.
