    I’ve been using this case for 6-8 weeks now and today when I pulled the case off to clean my phone I found it is scratched all to hell. The silver frame around the screen is just plain tore up. This phone was pristine when it went into the case.

    The Commuter TL case for the iPhone 3GS is pretty good. The phone always felt too skinny to me but with the case, I feel like I have something to hold on to.

    The reason I’m giving this 3 stars is the screen protector. It was very hard to get on without bubbles – but I eventually got a good seal after a lot of trial and error. I don’t know if other products are this much trouble to install. But the real problem is that there’s a sticker on the plastic screen protector that you’re supposed to remove after you’re done applying it to the phone. The sticker helps to lay down the shield and tells you which side is up. Well, the %$^@#$% thing stuck!! The sticker wouldn’t come off. I had to tear it off and it left a sticky residue on the screen protector. It took all sorts of horsing around and stress to get the goo off the screen to where it was clear again. Definitely a case of a small design detail ruining a reasonable product.

    *UPDATE::

    OK, time to eat a little crow. The shield actually comes in 3 layers. You peel the first layer off, stick the shield down, and THEN you’re supposed to peel the top layer off. That’s what that darn second sticker is for. But the instructions don’t say that. They just tell you to pull off the second sticker – which I tried to do. Here’s a youtube video of a similar product that is very clear: [...]

    Case is great. _Instructions_ for how to apply the screen shield are horrible. Still gets 3 stars for the grief it put me through.

    So, I searched online for the best iphone case. Some notable websites include ilounge, PC Mag 10 coolest cases, and other forums. I owned the SwitchEasy Rebel. Here is why I like this case; OtterBox commuter TL; the best:

    1- It is easy to install and has an excellent grib

    2- It doesn’t woble when placed on a flat surface which is a problem for many Switcheasy cases

    3- The inputs are all covered nicely and the plugs are not completely detachable so you don’t lose them

    4- Nice design; not too plain but not too showy either

    What I don’t like:

    1- the headphone space may be a bit too tight to insert large headphone connector

    2- that’s it

    Overall, really good case; glad to have made the purchase

    The case is really nice. Not to bulky, but seems like it will take a little drop. All the ports on the iphone are covered so no dust or light water splash will not get in. I had a problem with the screen protector that came with the item. The screen protector itself is nice but they put a sticker on it that needs removed after installation. No big deal..except the sticker is not one that is removed cleanly. It left sticky residue on the screen cover that I had to remove. The last thing I wanted to do to a new iphone was put goo gone on the screen cover. It was a real pain to get it off and there is still a little smudge in the corner but I was afraid if I kept scrubbing and pushing I would damage the phone. I would recommend checking to see if the sticker will come off cleanly before putting on the screen guard. It was really frustrating and took me 30 minutes to rectify. Now I have to order another screen cover so I don’t have a big smudge in the corner. Otterbox are you listening???
