Keep in touch wherever your roam around the world with the quad-band Nokia 6085 mobile phone from AT&T. Easily pocketable at 3 ounces light and 0.9 inches thin, it communicates over GSM/GPRS networks and offers global voice and data roaming in over 125 countries. Getting on the Internet is easy with support for the GPRS data protocol, as well as the high-speed EDGE wireless data service. Emphasizing ease-of-use and enduring design, this straightforward clamshell phone is packed with handy organizational and communication tools as well as multimedia features such as a VGA camera (with video capture), digital audio player, Bluetooth connectivity for stereo headphones, and an FM radio. Other features include a full duplex speakerphone, MicroSD memory card slot, and a long battery life with up to 5 hours of talk time.

The clamshell Nokia 6085 weighs just 3 ounces and is a great companion for fast-paced globetrotters with its quad-band connectivity and EDGE data service.

The external blue display makes it easy to see who’s calling as well as check the time and the phone’s battery.

The 6085 operates on GSM 850/900/1800/1900 networks and can handle high-speed data connectivity via AT&T’s EDGE network (which stands for “Enhanced Data Rates for Global Evolution”), with availability in more than 13,000 US cities and along some 40,000 miles of major highways. This third-generation, high-speed, mobile data and Internet access technology is fast enough to support a wide range of advanced data services (with average data speeds between 75-135Kbps), including video and music clips, full picture and video messaging, high-speed color Internet access, and email on the go.

Featuring subtle, organic design lines, a clear keypad and an uncluttered menu structure, the elegant Nokia 6085 is further complemented by sophisticated detailing such as black soft touch paint and chrome accents. The internal 1.8-inch passive LCD has a 128 x 160-pixel resolution and 262K colors, while the external FSTN window offers a monochrome display and measures 96 x 68 pixels. The blue light display on the cover makes it convenient to see who is calling, check the time and signal/battery strength without the need to open the phone.

The digital audio player is compatible with a wide variety of formats (MP3, MP4, AAC, AAC+, eAAC+, WMA) as well as protected WMA files purchased from AT&T Music and streaming 3GPP video. The 6085 also includes the Bluetooth A2DP profile, so you can listen to your favorite tunes and the built-in FM radio over a pair of Bluetooth-enabled wireless headphones. The built-in camera captures VGA (640 x 480-pixel) still photos as well as video clips up to 15 seconds in length. It has a 4x digital zoom, and the phone includes in-camera editing features.

Pictures, videos and music can be stored and shared using the optional hot-swappable microSD memory card, which offers up to 2 GB storage (the phone, itself, offers only 4 MB of memory). The 6085 offers wireless connectivity via Bluetooth technology, making communication–such as synchronization between phone and PC, transferring images or usage of wireless enhancements–with other devices quickly and easily.

To enable staying in touch with family and friends, the 6085 offers comprehensive functions for easy messaging and voice communication, including MMS, Nokia Xpress audio messaging, enhanced email and instant messaging via AIM, Yahoo!, and MSN. There’s also a built-in web browser for MEdia Net downloads and mobile web browsing. AT&T’s MEdia Net service lets you do more than just stream videos–it lets you receive and send emails, read news headlines, get weather updates, download games and ringtones, and more. The T9 predictive text entry technology is built into the unit, which makes it easier for people to enter words and text on handsets–a plus for mobile email and text messaging users. More features include:

  • Enhanced voice dialing with SIND: Speaker-independent name dialing on long press volume down key
  • Integrated handsfree speaker with new high quality speaker for better audio experience
  • Personal Information Management (PIM) tools: calendar, to-do list, notes, expense manager, alarm clock, countdown timer

Bought 3 days ago and the outer mini-screen has already failed. AT&T claims it’s due to physical damage and refuses to replace.

Although the phone and inner screen still work, I seriously question the longevity and durability of this phone.

Because of this, I would advise buyers not to buy this phone!

I realize that this was a free phone, but for a 4 MP camera phone, the camera on this phone is crappy. And that’s putting it mildly (severely grainy texture).

The calculator on the phone is not user-friendly at all and the alarm is pitiful; you can’t even change the alarm tone volume!

If you value camera quality and ease of use, DON’T GET THIS PHONE! I got it for free as an upgrade and I *still* want my money back…

Head Note : very convenient for old people, people with big fingers and people who will NOT walk outdoor & talk. Bad for people who talk while walking in road or who work mostly outdoor.

Also Suitable for people with less sharp hearing & sight abilities.

    Pros:

1)Very loud, very clear (though noisy in windy places and some times tinning voice )

2)Big keypad, Big, clear contrasty LCD screen layout (though phone numbers appear in two lines, which I felt i was typing a wrong number because it splits the numbers oddly between lines. I won’t consider that as a Con / Flaw because most people save numbers in ‘contacts list’ now a days)

    3)Excellent signal reception.

    Cons :

You WILL get either or both of this problems with this Cell phone :

    1) Strong hissing noise when sitting near fan/AC (almost none when no wind or moment around). This will be annoying if you are walking in street in wind.

Cause : ABSENSE OF NOISE CANCELLING in firmware in 6085

Solution : Keep her mouth so close to yours as if you are kissing her and block the wind OR talk from under the bed or inside the rest room :-)

Knowing this might really help you:

    2) One fine morning, you will not hear what the other person saying. Nothing. Nay. Nada. You will see headset icon appearing in the screen.

Cause : Your 6085 Cellphone dreams and undergoes hallucination that she is screwed by a headset pin. Actually she is serene and untouched by headset pin, but little dust particle might have gone inside that confused her.

Solution : 1) Swtich off the phone and restart; if no success 2) remove Battery, insert again and restart; if no success 3) Remove battery, make a non-cruel, ahimsa, vegetarian attempt to clean off dust particles and again turn it on. if no success 4) Use headset as temporary solution :-) and send her to Gynecologist or tech. support.

    3) Tinning, harsh voice ( occasionally, not a bummer or flaw)

    ( FN :

    1) I wanted to give three stars, but i want to reduce existing average four star rating, so giving only two.

    2) If your friend has this phone and if hissing noise from his/her side annoys you , you too can buy this one and revenge on your friend. Be ruthless and get the help of satan in this regard.

My needs in a cell phone are simple … I just want to make and receive phone calls. Don’t care about camera, video, email, texting, or anything else. The thing that I find annoying with this camera is the display. If I am calling a number like 234-5678, the number does not show on one line of the display. Instead, the 2 will be on the upper line and 345678 will be on the lower line. I guess the engineers that designed it didn’t know what American phone numbers look like. I want my old Motorola back!

Yoiu cannot dial hands free with this phone. Nokia will not allow you to enter your own voice tags for your contacts and the computer generated voice is impossible to mimic. If you are looking for true hands free phone usage, try another phone/brand!
