Other features include a 1.3-megapixel camera/camcorder, Bluetooth for handsfree communication and stereo music streaming, MicroSD memory expansion (up to 8 GB), access to mobile email and instant messaging services, and up to 5.25 hours of talk time.

Verizon Wireless Service
With support for the EV-DO high-speed data standard, you’ll enjoy fast access to the Internet and Verizon Wireless multimedia services (additional charges applicable), with average download speeds ranging from 400 to 700 Kbps and peak rates up to 2 Mbps. (Learn more about where EV-DO coverage is offered.) The V Cast Music service enables you to download songs instantly to your phone, or purchase music through your PC and transfer the files to your phone. If purchased from your phone, you’ll receive two copies of the song: a Windows Media Audio Pro Plus format at 64Kbps stereo is sent to your phone, and a Windows Media Audio 9 format at 160Kbps stereo is sent to your account in the V CAST Music online store for downloading to your PC. V Cast Music offers nearly 2 million songs, with more being added all the time.

In addition to the V Cast Music service, this phone is also compatible with the Verizon Wireless V CAST Music with Rhapsody, which enables you to access this exclusive digital music service for RealNetworks and for MTV Networks. V CAST Music with Rhapsody delivers unlimited monthly access to music on up to three Rhapsody-compatible mobile phones and players and online on multiple PCs and Web browsers. In addition, customers who purchase music over-the-air are able to download the master copy of the songs or albums to their PCs free of digital rights management (DRM) software that restricts how and where music can be played.

The V Cast Video service enables you to stream or download video clips to your phone from a variety of news, entertainment, sports, and weather channels, including CNN, ABC News, E!, CBS Sports, The Weather Channel, and VH1.

With this GPS-enabled phone, you’ll be able to access the Verizon Wireless VZ Navigator service (additional charges applicable) for voice-prompted turn-by-turn directions, heads-up alerts, local search of nearly 14 million points of interest in the US (such as landmarks, restaurants and ATMs), and detailed color maps. And the Chaperone service lets you easily locate your loved ones from your Verizon Wireless phone or PC in real time. After defining a zone, such as an area designating a school or summer camp, you’ll be sent an alert via text message when the Chaperone handset enters or leaves the zone.

Getting on the Internet is easy using the Verizon Wireless Mobile Web 2.0 package, which allows you to read and send e-mails, exchange instant messages and view your favorite web content on your phone. The Verizon Wireless Media Center wireless download service is also fully compatible with this phone. This pay-per-download service features application downloads, games and productivity tools. You can also personalize your handset with ringtone downloads using the Media Center service.

The Verizon Wireless Dashboard
Dashboard is an easy-to-use application, which acts as the primary platform for discovering, purchasing, and personalizing multimedia content and services on your device. It provides access to personalized channels like V CAST Music & Video, Mobile Web, ringtones, games and more.

Phone Features
The VX8360 features a traditional clamshell design with a large 2-inch 240 x 320-pixel internal display with support for 256K colors, as well as an external TFT LCD with a 96 x 96-pixel resolution (for displaying incoming call information, battery life, signal strength, graphics, photos and more). Music playback control keys are also located on the front cover. Most of the phone’s features and on-screen menus are controlled by a five-way center button on the handset’s backlit control pad.

The VX8360′s built-in address book can store up to 1000 contacts for quick and easy management of phone numbers and email addresses. Meanwhile, a speed dialing feature allows you to dial up to 99 numbers virtually instantaneously. The phone comes with built-in polyphonic ringtones plus a vibrating alert. Ringtones can be assigned to specific callers so you don’t have to look at the phone to know who’s calling, or you can match pictures with callers to identify them.

This phone provides the latest version of Bluetooth connectivity–version 2.1 + EDR (Enhanced Data Rate), which makes pairing with the included headset as well as other Bluetooth devices a snap. With EDR, you’ll get a faster connection than with the previous version, which makes transferring files and using the phone as a modem for your laptop hum along nicely. And with the embedded A2DP Bluetooth profile, you can stream your music to a pair of Bluetooth stereo headphones or other compatible devices.

The 1.3-megapixel camera offers three resolution modes (1280 x 960, 640 x 480, 320 x 240) and includes a self-timer (3, 5, and 10 seconds), and white balance controls. You can also edit images right inside the phone with tools for zooming, rotating, and cropping. It also records video clips (176 x 144 pixels) from 30 seconds (for sending via MMS) or up to 1 hour (for saving to memory card). You can also set videos under 5 MB in size as your screen’s wallpaper.

The phone also sports an airplane mode feature, which allows the user to safely use the non-wireless functions of a phone (such as music, games, or organizer functions) on an airplane during flight.

I am phone freak i admit it .I like what i call no nothing phones i don’t text or download or any of the other fluff the phones come with. We make calls recieve calls that’s it. I do love the weight & battery life of this phone. We do some heavy duty talking my husband is a truck driver so we average over 3000 min a month just between the 2 of us . The only thing i don’t like is the loud beep you get when you miss a call. I’m not sure if that feature can be turned off or not. This phone probably has way more features than we need but like i said it has AWSOME batter life. Thanks LG for such a quality phone.

I have this phone, and I like it. I use it more often as an mp3 player than as a phone. I can copy most mp3 files I own (for example, those ripped from CD’s I own) from my pc to the phone. But I can’t copy the mp3 files I purchased from amazon.com as mp3 downloads to the phone. Amazon mp3-download files are rejected by this phone. Bummer.

I’ve talked with Amazon’s tech support, who say they don’t intend for their mp3-download files to be rejected, and can’t fix it because the problem is in the phone software (it’s a VCAST-enabled phone, which I think is significant though I don’t understand why). I’m trying to talk to or email verizonwireless, but so far I haven’t gotten through to them.

This is my fourth flip phone. The Motorola I had was great but the service provider was lousy. The VX8300 was a terrific unit and never let me down. I picked up a Flipshot for the great camera but washed the thing and killed it. Thinking the VX8360 would be at least as good as the 8300 was a mistake. This thing sounds bad, opens awkwardly, doesn’t vibrate enough to let me know there’s a call when it’s in my pocket and gets terrible reception almost everywhere I go. Even the battery life is disappointing to me and I’m NOT a long talker. LG really dropped the ball on this one. Verizon should really upgrade their return policy.

Had to pay $200 for this phone after I discovered my first free Verizon phone (The Knack) could not get reception in the middle of one of Verizon’s largest claimed reception areas. They told me this one might be better. It is. If I move around while talking I can sometimes get 2 bars (one bar for each hundred dollars I guess). I use only the phone (yeah, I’m an old guy). Had to have Verizon block web access because I kept hitting the unmarked web access key (costing me $4-$5 each incident, even though I always shut down before actually getting connected). Discovered I’m not the first to have to do this. Large keypad and display text are good for older users. Voice dialing of stored names is fair. Battery life has been good for me. Blue Tooth with a headset works well. I prefer a speakerphone to a headphone. This is one of the worst I’ve owned. A 3-step process for both receiving and calling: Got a call? Flip open. Use “send” key to answer. Now hit “speakerphone” to turn it on. Impatient callers will have hung up by now, especially if you let the phone ring a couple of times before answering. The speakerphone button cannot be used by itself to call out or receive calls. Both my speakerphone and earphone reception are broken, with constant drop-outs, always sounding like I have a really bad signal (bad circuit board joint?). Speakerphone is useless in a vehicle, unless you hold it near your face, negating the whole point of “hands-free”. Difficult to open the flip with one hand. I often leave it lying open to avoid having to paw at it. Side buttons preclude use of most firm-fitting generic holsters. And you WILL be hitting those side buttons frequently, whether you want to or not. LOOKING at this phone will scratch it. Software can be cumbersome, often requiring an extra step or two beyond other phones I’ve used (ie. setting an alarm, or setting to vibrate). If you frequent Karaoke bars, or were born after 2001, you might actually LIKE the provided ring-tones. For me, this has been a mediocre phone with poor reception and poor sound quality. Pay for this one at your own risk. Note: Reception may be Verizon’s fault. It’s hard to say. Their coverage is NOT as good as claimed. I’ll be returning to Sprint next time around for that reason alone.

Shortly after purchasing this phone I found that even if the phone showed 4 bars when turned off at night, it was most often dead when I turned it on the next day. It’s been happening regularly since then. It seems like the phone loses power even when turned off. Phone was fully charge yesterday morning and turned off because I cannot have it at work, turned on for only about 2 hours after work, and this evening it shows 1 bar left. This seems to be an issue w/ these phones. There is a pretty long thread of complaints about this on the Verizon website. If you use your phone a lot (and most people do) you may want to reconsider buying this one.
