Net10 Service
The Net10 pay-as-you-go wireless service offers all local, long distance and roaming calls at one low price of 10 cents per minute. All Net10 prepaid wireless service is provided by TracFone Wireless–America’s #1 prepaid wireless company with a national footprint covering 99 percent of the U.S. population. There are no contracts, credit checks, monthly fees, security deposits, activation or deactivation charges, or age restrictions.

All Net10 handsets have a display that shows the actual airtime balance on the phone’s display for ease of tracking usage. Net10 handsets also carry an “instant refill” feature that allows users to add airtime directly from the handset on a real-time basis. Key digital features include free call waiting, free caller ID, free voicemail and text messaging at 5 cents per message.

You can buy bundles of minutes (which must be used within a set time limit of between 90 to 365 days) from the Net10 web site on your home PC or directly from your phone’s web browser. For example, a purchase of 200 minutes of usage expires within 30 days of your first use. The amount of service time varies depending on how many minutes you purchase, and any minutes leftover from the previous purchase will be rolled over. If you do not purchase and add more airtime before a due date, your service will be deactivated and existing minutes will expire.

You can also choose to call or text anyone in the U.S. on any network as much as you want for only $79.98 a month without signing a contract. Additionally, you can sign up for international long distance calling to over 60 international destinations (including Argentina, Brazil, China, Mexico, most European countries, and many more) from your Net10 phone for only 5 cents per minute plus airtime.

Phone Features
The clamshell LG 600G has an internal LCD screen with a 128 x 160-pixel resolution and support for 65K colors, and it’s complemented by an external screen (96 x 64 pixels, 65K colors) that displays current time, battery life, signal strength, and incoming calls. The internal phonebook can store up to 1000 contact entries, and it supports multiple numbers per contact entry as well as caller groups.

Handsfree communication is easy thanks to the integrated speakerphone. This phone also provides Bluetooth wireless connectivity (version 2.0), and includes profiles for communication headset, handsfree car kits, and file transfer.

Support for basic text messaging and multimedia messaging (MMS) are built into the 600G. When used in combination with the phone’s built-in camera, MMS opens up a whole new world of messaging fun. The T9 predictive text entry technology is built into the unit, which makes it easier for people to enter words and text on handsets–a plus for mobile email and text messaging users.

Other features include:

  • Net10 Airtime Balance Display shows you how much airtime you’ve used and how much is left
  • VGA camera for still photos with multi-shot, self-timer, brightness, white balance functions

This phone has good sound quality and gives excellent reception in the places I’ve used it. The Bluetooth feature works just fine. The camera isn’t great, but what cell phone camera is? My only complaint with the phone hardware is that the casing feels kind of plasticky and flimsy; however, I’ve dropped it a few times with no damage, so it’s apparently stronger than it feels.

My only complaint is with Net10 customer service, which is pretty awful. The people you reach on the phone are useless; they can’t do anything you can’t do for yourself through the website. Your only hope if you have a complex problem is to find one of their internal email addresses.

When I found out that Net 10 had started carrying a blue tooth enabled phone I was very happy. So I purchased the LG 600G (from Net 10 though, because Amazon didn’t have them at the time). Here is my opinion of the phone.

Pros: 1.The phone was easy to activate.

    2.Small enough to fit anywhere.

    3.Text-messaging is easy.

    4.Cheap pricing.

Cons: 1.The phone does not have very good menu navigation.

2.The ring volume is really low.

3.A lot of my calls were dropped, I’m talking like every day.

4.Whenever I would call my family or friends on their land-line phone

from the LG 600G another person’s name would show up on the Caller ID,

thereby confusing people as to who was calling them. I called Net 10 several

times in an attempt to straighten this out, and each time nothing was

accomplished. so I just stopped using the phone.

5.The camera sucks on the phone.

If none of these things about the phone bother you, then, buy it, and try it for yourself. I can’t make an opinion about the blue tooth capabilities because I never used that option on the phone.
