Palm Cell Phones has added another phone to its tremendously popular line of Palm-Pre. This one is aptly named the Palm Pre Plus. It follows its predecessor as an upgrade and a very good upgrade, make no mistake about that. However it does not try to redefine the Palm Pre ideal nor the smartphone, so don’t expect that.

The Plus by Palm Cell Phones offers twice the memory of the Palm Pre as well as a redesigned form to better fit the hands of users. It offers a vivid touch screen, a full QWERTY keyboard as well as Palm’s webOS Platform, one that is quite intuitive. The webOS Platform allows users to stay connected to a variety of web-based programs such as Microsoft Outlook Emails, Google calendars, docs and events, to name a few.

But that is certainly not all that comes with this smartphone. Maybe the nicest part of the Palm Pre Plus is that it is shaped just like many other smartphones, most notably the iPhone as well as the HTC Touch and various Blackberry Cell Phones. While it takes a similar shape of those devices the touch screen slides up, revealing the full QWERTY keyboard. This is different from the solo touch screen or the flip out on many phones for the QWERTY keyboard. Personally, I find this feature as the best combination of QWERTY and touch screen to date.

For email, the Treo 755p now offers VersaMail 3.5.4 with built-in Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync support for Microsoft Direct Push Technology, which delivers automatic updates to Outlook email. Businesses connected to a Microsoft Exchange Server get fast, automatic wireless updates of email, calendar and contact information with added IT security and remote manageability. Also new to the Treo 755p is the Google Maps service for mobile, built into the Treo’s ROM. Design
At 5.64 ounces (160 grams), the 755p sheds nearly 12 percent of the 700p’s weight (6.4 ounces), and it feels less bulkier in your pocket without the antenna stub. Under the hood, the Treo 680 features Palm OS 5.4.9, 64MB of non-volatile flash memory available for user storage, and an Intel PXA270 312 MHz processor. It also features a 320 x 320-pixel color touchscreen, full QWERTY backlit keypad, and application buttons (which are customizable).
