After using my new Blackberry 9630 Tour for several months and having done the proper three full cycles of discharge-recharge for the Lithium battery I wanted to have a spare battery backup. I select only authentic Blackberry products due to quality issues with other products. Lithium batteries require special charge-discharge sequencing to get maximum life and having a spare cahrged battery allows for the correct discharge of the battery I have in the phone without losing operation due to a dead battery, as a charged spare is readily handy to me (assuming I carry it with me). This charging unit fits the Blackberry charging adapter perfectly and provide a safe means to transport the charged battery without fear of accidental shorting and causing a fire. I can carry it on an airplane with no security issues as lithium battereies are prohibited in checked luggage. Nice product and I will continue to use only Blackberry products for my Blackberry phone.

This is a Blackberry product that I am using with the D-X1 for my Blackberry Storm 2. The only piece that ships with this product is the charger itself. You have to use the Micro-USB charger (the transformer/wire) to power this charger. You can also use the car charger (but the instructions state that you can’t use the computer USB wire for a charge).
The materials suggest that there is a Y-Cable splitter to allow simultaneous charging of the phone and the extra battery, but I haven’t been able to find that part anywhere yet.
If you want to always have a fresh battery available, I highly recommend this product.

As long as you understand before purchasing that this does not include a cable you’re golden. Connect it to your micro USB source and it’s a Home charger, Car charger & Spare battery protector. Light turns green to show it’s charged , Red to show battery needs charging.
