Apparently there are a lot of adapters that don't work with Blackberry's. This works perfectly with the 8830 and should work well with other Blackberry models that use a 2.5mm jack. Tried it both with various 3.5mm headphones, as well as with a 3.5mm cable to run the audio into a stand-alone set of powered speakers. Works great with no problems at all.

The wire used between the plug and the jack seems a little bit thin, though, so I don't know how it would stand up over time or to any abuse. Should be fine for my purposes and I tend to be gentle with things. If you use this you should probably be careful not to tug on the wire itself when you are unplugging it and to make sure and grab one of the connector ends when you pull on it though, so you don't put strain on the cable itself.
